Industrial Motions Announces New Workplace Stretching Program for Warehouses, Manufacturing Facilities and Other Companies with Employees At Risk for Workplace Injury

Physical therapy specialist introduces new stretching program to reduce work place injuries

RALEIGH NC -- Industrial Motions, Inc. announces the release of their latest workplace injury prevention and employee wellness program called "WorkDay Warm-Up." This exercise program combines stretching exercises with simple strengthening exercises to provide employees with the most well rounded workplace exercise program available.

"This unique blend of stretching and strengthening for the workplace has evolved through feedback from the workers themselves," said Frank Murray MSPT, President/CEO of Industrial Motions, Inc. "Traditional workplace exercise programs," continued Murray, "consist mainly of stretching. Workers and companies were requesting strengthening exercises as well. This led to the development of the WorkDay Warm-up Program."

"Another unique aspect of this program that separates it from others on the market, is the ability to categorize jobs and select which set of exercises are most appropriate for the workplace of a particular company. Not all jobs are the same, so the exercise programs need to fit the specific job functions. At a minimal cost and time investment, the WorkDay Warm-Up Program is a great way to maintain a culture of wellness and safety in the workplace."

The WorkDay Warm-up Program contains four categories of exercises that cover the spectrum of workplace tasks. A company can categorize and select the right set of exercises, thus customizing the program to the specific type of work performed in their facilities. The program contains instructions and graphics illustrating each exercise. An exercise safety officer can have their program up and running fairly quickly with minimal training time. MDZ of a large Corporation (Houston TX) says "Not only is their program up and running, but the workers have really bought into the program and look forward to the session each day."

Material Handling Training by Industrial Motions of Raleigh NC Responsible for Significant Reduction in Sprains, Strains and Work Injuries in Fayetteville NC and Canada

Physical therapy specialist implements training program to reduce work place injuries

RALEIGH NC -- In February 2012, Goodyear's Fayetteville, North Carolina plant began training their associates to handle materials using the "Ready, Set, Lift with Your Head" method. The plant goal was to reduce the number of sprains and strains experienced in the plant resulting from material handling tasks which are sometimes Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable events.

Associates attended a thirty minute seminar on how to apply the "Ready, Set, Lift with Your Head" technique to the tasks they perform on a daily basis using materials specific to each job specialty. The Fayetteville plant saw a 45 percent reduction in sprains/strains when comparing 2011 to 2012.

"If we can teach our workers safe and effective techniques for handling materials, we are making their life safer, both at work and at home," said Michael Ellison, Human Resources Manager. "The time invested in this training program was well worth the end result."

A video version of the "Ready, Set, Lift with Your Head" training was used in Goodyear's Nappanee, Ontario plant. With a 36 percent decline in sprains and strains, Fayetteville's sister plant is reaping the benefits of the practical and applicable training.

"We teach workers to be professional material handlers, and to think of material handling as a skilled part of their job as opposed to just moving objects from point A to point B, said Frank Murray MSPT. "We achieve this by giving them a sustainable technique and process for handling materials."

Industrial Motions Retains Contract with Cormetech, Inc. for Job Functional Testing to Develop a Safe Ergonomic Working Environment

Local workplace physical therapy expert offers job functionality testing for workplace safety

APEX, NC -- Industrial Motions, Inc. has been awarded a contract with Cormetech, Inc. to design and implement a Job Function Matching program for their Durham, North Carolina facility.

"Cormetech Inc., a joint equity company of proven industrial leaders, Corning Incorporated and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), is the leading producer of titania-based ceramic honeycomb catalyst for NOx emission control used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems for air pollution control," said Frank Murray, President of Industrial Motions Inc.

Beginning in September 2011, Industrial Motions will analyze each job in the facility and design a Functional Job Description which will objectively lay out the physical demands of each position. From these descriptions, Job Function Tests will be created for each position. The tests are used to determine if a worker has the minimum physical ability to perform the job in question.

The Functional Job Descriptions and Job Function tests will be used to provide objective information to the medical community in the event of a work related injury. This information is essential for physicians involved in the return to work process of an injured worker. The system will also be used as part of the pre-hire/post-offer assessment to determine if an applicant will have the minimum physical ability to perform the job being offered to them.

Cormetech's goals with the implementation of this Job Function Matching program are to enhance their already excellent Safety and return to work program, and to conduct an ADA/EEOC compliant Physical Abilities test for all applicants. Frank Murray MSPT, President of Industrial Motions, Inc. says "the installation of this Job Function Matching system is only the first step in developing a long-term relationship between Cormetech, Inc. and Industrial Motions, Inc. This relationship will improve not only the overall health of the Cormetech's Durham facility, but also the health and wellness of each individual employee in the future."
